EXCITEMENT is mounting as the deadline approaches for artists to register their involvement with the 10 Parishes Festival which will take place in September this year.

Although the deadline is officially March 31, artists who have been too busy creating rather than thinking about deadlines are still encouraged to get in touch with the organisers with any late ideas.

Festival director Pauline Homeshaw said: “One of the highlights of planning the festival is to look through the artist proposals and reflect on the huge breadth of talent we are so lucky to have on our doorstep.

“Even those with a creative flair who live outside the immediate area are encouraged to make contact as we can help find and develop a venue for them.

“There is no limit on the type of material we would like involved – if you feel creative in any way, from visual art to performance, please just make contact with us.

“The festival reflects the community around it and seeks to inspire engagement with everyone in our beautiful parishes.”

One of the highlights of the festival is the carnival parade that will take place on Sunday, September 6.

This is an opportunity for people of all ages to get involved in this popular community event.

Young people, whether individually or in groups, are particularly encouraged to make contact with Jo Finlinson with any ideas, or for help developing their own acts.

It is a chance to showcase creativity and have some fun, whether it be artwork, a funky dance routine or anything that deserves to be seen by a wider audience.
