A PERSONAL trainer from Wellington has completed a gruelling 37-mile ‘ultra-marathon’ for a local charity, raising £1,300 in the process.
Brandon Haggett, 23, who works at Wellington Sports Centre, completed the brutal challenge in Pembrokeshire in May alongside his cousin, Daniel Pledger, to raise money for the ‘Think Amy!’ charity – which was set up in memory of 13-year-old Bishop Fox's student Amy, who was mown down by a speeding car as she cycled home on the pavement in Blackbrook Way, Taunton, in June 2011.
Brandon said: “So many people I love and care about have been affected by mindless driving.
“I ran this ‘ultra-marathon’ for a few people - Jane Hofmeister, Kelly Cordy-Dyke, Joe John Dyke and also a friend, who sadly passed away in a motorbike crash.
“The thought of them all helped me cross the finish line in terrible conditions and when I fell over I got back to my feet because of them.”
