PUPILS from Beech Grove Primary school in Wellington spent a morning visiting the Museum of Somerset in Taunton on June 23.

The visit saw the children learn about the St Peter Sculpture which is one of the exhibits at the museum.

The sculpture depicts St Peter and was found by a Somerset builder who used it in his garden at Dowlish Wake near Ilminster to mark the grave of a pet cat.

Not until 2004 was it recognised as a nationally-important object, probably dating from about AD 1000.
