WELLINGTON Tennis Club has received a £1,000 donation towards renovating its clubhouse from Persimmon Homes.

The club needs to expand its existing facilities after seeing a rapid increase in interest, with over 100 members on its books.

Chairman Sue Rackley said: “We need to remove an interior wall to open out the space and create better storage cupboards.

“As well as this we need to replace wobbly furniture with a good second hand table, chairs and have a fridge to store food when we have to provide food for league matches.”

The Community Champions scheme, run by Persimmon Homes, which is currently building at Jasmine Gardens, in Wellington, gives match funding of up to £1,000 to charities and groups.
