Two crews were needed to tackle a chimney fire at Preston Bowyer, Milverton, yesterday after crews struggled to gain access to the blaze from the hearth.
One appliance from Wiveliscombe was sent after a call shortly after 10am reporting the chimney fire and set to work from the hearth using full chimney gear.
At 11.40 crews requested the attendance of a second pump as they planned to access the flames from the roof. An pump from Wellington was sent.
By 12.20pm crews using ladders and ropes were working from the roof and a low pressure hose reel and chimney gear were used to extinguish the fire.
