A CHRISTMAS market held at The Skylark Pub on the outskirts of Wellington raised just under £600 for charity.

The market, was to raise fund for a hospice, who cared for a former kitchen worker who died last year from cancer.

Key holder for The Skylark and organiser of the market, Steve Cook, said: “It went really well and we handed the cheque over recently in memory of Sylvia.

“Her family joined us and some of her co workers.

“We were all very pleased with how much we raised.

“We’ll be holding events throughout the year to raise money for other charities including Help for Heroes and the Somerset and Devon Air Ambulance.

“We’re also planning to hold our bike night again this year.

“We held it last year and it was a massive success with around 300 motorbikes.

“We’ve love to have around 1,000 this year and some celebrities as well, it will most likely take place in September.”
