A WIVELISCOMBE building supplies company is asking the local community to help it collate a record of its 166 year history.

RGB Building Supplies, which was established in 1850, wants to create an archive of its rich past, detailing the people who worked for the company in years gone by as well as what was going on in the wider community throughout this period.

The firm, which has a branch in Old Brewery Road, Wiveliscombe, is appealing for any old receipts, leaflets, brochures, photos and would like to hear from anyone who has an RGB-related story to tell.

Keith Harris, products and marketing manager for the builders merchant, said: “Last year we donated five bogie rail trucks to the Lynton & Barnstaple Railway.

"These were used from the early 1900s to the late 1960s to move timber around our old Pilton Yard in Barnstaple, and it was these that got us thinking about trying to find other pieces of RGB’s past.

"So, whether something is five years or 50 years old, we’re looking to create a comprehensive record of our history and would love to see what items or memories people in the local community have.”

Contributions can be dropped into the Wiveliscombe branch or emailed to brandteam@rgbltd.co.uk.
