A WELLINGTON man is preparing for the longest run of his life to help raise money for a charity which has helped him live the “happiest 12 months” of his life.

Last year, Zac Peters and wife Amy adopted their son and were guided by Action for Children.

Zac, 37, said he cannot wait to get himself onto the start line and is delighted to be embarking on the “gruelling ordeal”.

He said: “The training has been really hard but I’m not dreading the run; I can’t wait to get onto start line because I will be helping to raise thousands of pounds for Action For Children.

“The charity guided and assisted my wife and me through every step of the process of adopting our son.”

Now that their son has been settled with them for over a year – which both father and son describe as the happiest 12 months of their lives – Mr Peters felt it was time to give something back.

He added: “The charity helped facilitate the extremely complex process of adopting a disadvantaged child from a British home.

“After I discovered they had a number of gold bond fundraising places for this year’s event, I signed up, despite having never done more running than the odd game of amateur football.

“Over the last six months, I have put in lots of training and I’m now in the final stages of preparation for the event.”

Mr Peters is on course to hit his initial fundraising target of £1,900.

He is hoping that anyone inspired by his story might also be willing to contribute.

He says it will enable him to raise more money and ensure more children who’ve had a tough start in life have the chance to re-settle.
