A YEAR seven pupil from Wellington has had the chop for charity.

Sophie Jennings, from Court Fields school, decided to have her hair cut off so she can donate her long locks to the Little Princess Trust, a charity that provides real hair wigs for children that have lost their own hair through cancer treatment.

Alongside Sophie's hair, she has also raised more than £500 in sponsorship money that she will also donate to the Trust.

Wellington hairdresser, Madaline Kolosowskyj, cut Sophie's hair on Friday, May 20, making it possible to give her hair away just in time to celebrate Wig Wednesday on Wednesday, May 25, a fundraising day organised by CLIC Sargent, a UK charity supporting young people and children with cancer.

Sophie’s mum, Alison Cosserat, praised her daughter for the brave challenge.

She said: “She has had her hair cut now and she looks absolutely lovely.

"She is really pleased.

"Sophie wanted to get her hair cut anyway, but then she found out about the Trust and thought it would be a lovely thing to do.”
