THE sun might not have been shining quite as much as organisers hoped, but it didn't stop the crowds flocking out to enjoy Wellington's annual Carnival Street Fair.

Somerset County Gazette:

The fair is held every year to help raise money for the carnival, and there was plenty for visitors to see and do.

Entertainment was held throughout the day in the form of live music, an open mic, and performances from Wellington Majorettes new display and Bollywood Dancers to name a few.

There were 85 stalls selling everything and anything from jewellery and clothes to food, drinks and raffles and several of the town's shops were also open.

The carnival exhibition van was also present, as were Wellington Carnival organisers hoping to find the town's next princess and prince.

Carnival Secretary Louise Brierle said: "We were hoping for a bit more sun but there's been another great turn out and I think everyone is enjoying themselves.

"MP Rebecca Pow opened the event this morning along with Pearly Queen Madge Covey, who despite being in her 90s still takes part and is even collecting money for us today."

Two characters from the children's TV show Paw Patrol also proved a particular hit with children - and some adults too.
