A MOTORCYCLIST has been flown to hospital following a serious crash.
The crash, which involved a motorbike and a car, happened on the road between Dunkeswell and Hemyock just before 8am this morning.
The motorcyclist suffered leg and arm injuries, and has been flown to Southmead Hospital in Bristol.
It is not known how serious the injuries are.
The road is currently closed in both directions.
A spokesperson for South West Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 7.50am this morning and sent a rapid response vehicle, a crew and the air ambulance also attended.
"A car had been in collision with a motorbike and the motorcyclist had suffered arm and leg injuries.
"They were flown to Southmead Hospital."
The road is still closed and a diversion is in place.
Speaking at the scene, collision investigator Mr Newton from Devon and Cornwall Police said: "We were called at 7.55am to a road traffic collision involving a motorbike and car.
"It was a silver Volkswagen Golf, andf the bike was travelling towards Dunkeswell and the car towards Hemyock.
"The man on the motorbike was from Somerset and has serious injuries, and suffere substantial fractures to his arm and leg.
"He was airlifted to Southmead Hospital in Bristol.
"The road will be closed for another hour as the investigations continue."
