Oake and Bradford school plans name change

PARENTS at Oake and Bradford primary, which is due to welcome pupils from the soon-to-close Nynehead Primary School this September, have complained about the school’s proposed new name - Trinity Vale.

‘Trinity’ refers to the three settlements of Oake, Bradford and Nynehead while ‘Vale’ refers to the Vale of Taunton.

What you think of the proposed name? – Have your say in the comment box below.

Talk about telling half a story..

Whats their problem with the new name?

Typical fear-of-change because it's different.

Something more sensible like that there is the COE Trinity Primary School in the centre of Taunton with a very similar name?

or perhaps the religious connotation?

I don't think "Trinity" is the right word for the school.

simple, take the three names (oake, nynehead and bradford) and find an anagram for the new school name. Heres one I found earlier - "A Barehanded Donkey Fro" primary school...... Is original and slips straight off the tongue!

haha.. or they could just take the initials.... Nynehead, Oake and Bradford would make...?

DonSeer, Very intriguing...how do you know this is only half a story? Can you divulge the other half of it please ?

How about The three villages school or Nineoak and Bradford school?.

Bob Cockshaw > what i meant by that is that the gazette has reported the (shades of little britain) "don't like it" angle, but not included or asked for any reason behind the opposition to the name change.

You want a reason. I cannot speak for anyone else, nor would I, but in my case I believe 'Trinity' has religious conotations, which it has not. If they wanted a name that included all villages why not Bradford on Tone Primary School - we are after all in the Bradford on Tone Ward?
