MEMBERS of the school council at Wellington Junior School took an inspiring trip to a Devon children’s hospice.

The children visited Little Bridge House in Barnstaple with the school’s founding head teacher, John Wyatt, after his granddaughter Sophie died there in 2008 aged just three.

Year six pupil Hannah Rymell said: “Everything is done to put parents and children at ease. I realise how lucky I am to be healthy.”

Harry Nuttall Owen, head boy, added: “The children’s hospice is a very, very special place. It’s so happy, joyful and comforting.”

Accompanied by Roger Hitchin, head of key stage two, the children were able to see for themselves all the wonderful facilities and special care provided for children less fortunate than themselves.
