A WOMAN who only recently gave up “scattering pedestrians” has celebrated her 101st birthday.

Daisy Vickery celebrated last Thursday with a party with one of her two daughters and staff at The Court residential care home, in Wellington, where she has lived for two years.

Her daughter, Sandy Witcomb, said: “She gave up driving when she was 90, but continued to scatter pedestrians as she replaced the car with a mobility scooter.”

Mrs Vickery was born in Belvedere, Kent, where she met and married her late husband, Charles.

Their daughters, Sandy and Janet, live in Oxford and New Zealand respectively.

The couple moved to Wellington in the late 1970s and were regular worshippers at the Methodist church.
