Wellington Carnival tonight!

Wellington Carnival tonight! Wellington Carnival tonight!

Wellington is gearing up for its spectacular carnival tonight (September 29).

Thousands of people are expected to line the streets for the illustrious procession, which gets underway in Rockwell Green at 7.30pm.

Around 50 floats will snake up Mantle Street, Fore Street and the town centre, finishing at the Priory end of Wellington.

Exeter Road, at the Perry Elm roundabout to its junction with Bagley Road, will close from 2pm to allow the procession to assemble.

Other road closures will start in stages at 6.45pm to 7.15pm, including Mantle Street, Fore Street, High Street and Taunton Road through to Chelston.

Error: Not 50 floats at all! More like four or five! Lots of walking participants though.Shame there's not as many big floats now, sign of the times I suppose. Shame also that the Wellington public felt the need to litter the streets rather than take there rubbish home with them.
