STUDENTS at West Somerset Community College have planted a cross in the garden of remembrance in recognition of those who paid the ultimate price for their country.

The youngsters attended a service, during which they were reminded that with troops serving in Afghanistan, Remembrance Day is as important as ever and observed a two-minute silence.

The tradition has been ongoing since the end of the First World War but also honours those who fought in the Second World War and more recent conflicts.

Rachel Crocker, subject leader for History, said: “Thank you to all the students who took part and also the governors and teachers who helped make the day such an important experience.”
