A PIECE of wall art designed to brighten up the children’s area of a doctor’s waiting room has been presented to the surgery’s Patient Participation Group by students of West Somerset Community College.

Irnham Lodge Surgery’s patient group felt the corner needed to be more inviting to children.

Earlier this year, students Matthew Barker, Kelsey Mackie, Sophie Hart, Natalie Lee, Courtney Jones and Hannah Cable gave up hours of their own time after college and even during their summer break to complete a colourful mural.

Professional artist Fiona Rae’s work was used as the basis for the concept and followed a study of the artist by sixth formers.

Patient Participation Group chair Meigan Lyons said: “We are absolutely delighted with the end result. It is great to be able to provide such an interesting and educational piece of artwork for children to help occupy them whilst waiting for their appointment.”
