THE threatened bus services in Minehead have been protected after a public consultation by Somerset County Council.

In November last year, members of the public were asked for their views on a number of proposed changes to the way some bus services were funded.

In Minehead, the 100 Minehead Town Service and the 106 Doniford to Minehead service were at risk, but these have now been protected with the agreement of the bus operators.

Cllr Harvey Siggs said: “As an authority we’re committed to listening and consulting with our residents, and this consultation is a fantastic example of how the views of our residents really count.

“We face some extremely tough decisions because of significant reductions in our funding, but we value the opinions of our residents as we face up to these challenges.

“We’ve protected those bus services that are most important to people as a direct result of this consultation.”

“We’ll continue to work with members of the public and bus operators to explore ways of delivering services which are most important to people in a costeffective, efficient manner.”
