WEST Somerset Council has approved plans to knock down an old care home at North Croft in Williton and build 12 semi-detached, two storey homes.

In a supporting statement, Greenslade Taylor Hunt, agents for the county council, said: “The existing building is a large, unattractive former care home.

“It is now vacant, and unless the site is redeveloped it will fall into a state of further disrepair.

“The proposed scheme to provide 12 residential dwellings will, therefore, be of great benefit to the overall appearance of the site and surrounding area.”

The plans include two parking spaces per home.
