SEVEN schools across West Somerset are celebrating their successes, as pupils achieve more progress than primary schools country-wide.

ECF pupils who achieved two levels of progress in reading is 94% compared to 91% nationally, 94% progressed in reading compared to 93% nationally, and 92% progressed in maths compared to 89% nationally.

The Exmoor Coast Federation is comprised of Cutcombe First School, Dunster First School, Minehead Middle School, St Dubricius First School at Porlock, St Michael’s First School, Minehead and Timberscombe First Schools.

Executive head teacher of the Exmoor Coast Federation, Paul Rushforth, said: “These results show that by working together, we can provide outstanding education for our children.”

Sonia Watters, federation chair of governors, added: “Bearing in mind the wide diversity of our seven schools and the transition at Year 4 from First to Middle School, this is a very considerable achievement and recognises the strength and quality of the teaching that takes place across our schools.”
