Falling candle sparks Williton flat fire
A FIRE in a flat in Williton was caused by a candle falling on a sofa.
Firefighters were called to the incident in Egremont Flats, in Fore Street, shortly after 10pm yesterday, Thursday, February 12.
On arrival they confirmed a fire in the lounge area of the single storey home.
They isolated the utilities to the property before putting out the blaze.
A Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "The fire was caused by a candle falling on the sofa.
"There was 10 per cent fire damage to the sofa and 50 per cent damage to the room by smoke."
No-one was reported injured in the fire and duty of care was left with the occupier.
