THE 1st Watchet Sea Scout Group raised much needed funds for the group by washing cars at the Swain Street car park in the town on Saturday.

Assistant group leader Simon Bale said: “We raised £262, which is a fantastic amount on such a cold day, washing with cold water.

“The Sea Scouts had put in extra effort that morning as most of them had been involved in a night hike the night before, arriving back at the Scout headquarters for a short sleep before breakfast and starting washing cars.

“Our thanks go out to the local supporters and visitors who had their cars washed, and Mr Daley and Mr Cotton for their support in providing water for us from their gardens.”

The funds raised will be going towards the running of the group’s two minibuses, which are needed to transport group members to activities around the country.

Their next car wash is on February 28 from 9am until noon, again in the Swain Street car park.
