A MINEHEAD musician's eclectic new album has charted on iTunes following its worldwide release on Monday, July 27.

Joseph Buckler's third EP, titled Blueprint (Side A), reached number 97 on the Electronic iTunes chart earlier this week.

Joseph, a PHD Composition student at Bath Spa University, said that he specialises in soundtracks and soundscapes which he has developed in this latest work.

"I made it by recording improvisations at a grand piano, then editing these and augmenting them with electronic production techniques and instruments," he said.

Joseph, who creates his music specifically for television, film and the performing arts, said he is influenced by composers such as Phillip Glass and Howard Shore as well as rock bands like Incubus and Radiohead.

He has already provided soundtracks and orchestration for films (Walking in the Wind) and theatre (Things I Want to Know) and when he is not creating music he works as a musical director for theatre performances at the Regal Theatre in Minehead.

He is currently working on a version Steven Sondheim's music thriller Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street which will be showing at the Regal from August 13-22.
