BBC presenter Piers Taylor is coming to Watchet to work with community on a three-day project to turn a derelict field in a pleasure garden.

The news comes after Watchet campaign group the Onion Collective won lottery funding which will go toward a collaborative workshop led by renowned architect and presenter of BBC2's The House That 100k Built.

The free event invites anyone from the local area interested in learning building and landscaping to help build a 'pavilion-esque' structure for the Pleasure Garden.

The workshop will take place from Thursday, September 3 to Sunday September 6 and will be co-hosted by renowned timber expert Charley Brentnall and landscape architect Marc Dix.

Onion Collective director Georgie Grant said: "There is a wonderful sense of empowerment from working together as a community and it's something Watchet is especially good at.

"We hope this will inspire more community projects that have a potential to make a real difference in our town."
