Minehead is being given a year-round glow thanks to some new lights being installed in The Avenue following a successful trial.
The globes are being installed in half the trees that line The Avenue linking the town centre to the seafront.
The initiative aims to draw people into the town centre to enjoy the shops and other attractions.
The bright idea came from Minehead Chamber of Trade and a number of Town Councillors, and a successful trial run garnered 400 positive comments from the community.
The lights will be on from dusk until midnight throughout the year and will only cost about £1 a day to run thanks to their low energy LED bulbs.
Cllr Mandy Chilcott, deputy leader of the West Somerset Council, said: "The lights look really beautiful and really enhance the tree-lined Avenue that is one of Minehead's most attractive features. This can only be good for the town."
