A MINEHEAD artist has painted his way to first prize in the UK's largest and most prestigious watercolour competition.
Leo Davey earned himself £1,500 for his work entitled 'Drip...Regents Canal' in the Sunday Times Watercolour Competition.
Davey studied Illustration at Falmouth College of Art in Cornwall and currently works as a full time artist from his studio/gallery in Irnham Road.
Leo said: “This work is as much about what you can’t see as it is about what you can. Reflections in the
water let us know what is out of view.”
This will be the fourth time Leo has had his work shown at the Mall Galleries in London as part of the Watercolour of the Year exhibition.
He undertakes a whole variety of commissions and is always happy to discuss options.
In previous years Leo has won the “Evolver Prize”, has been a prize winner at the A303, Millfield & Ilminster open exhibitions.
