THE Luttrell Arms Hotel in Dunster has been named ‘Inn of the Year’ 2016 by the Good Pub Guide.

The ancient hotel with 28 en-suite bedrooms has been restored by private hotelier’s Nigel and Anne Way, who ‘rescued’ the Luttrell Arms from administration in 2013.

The accolade was awarded for their ‘lovely individually furnished and thoughtfully equipped bedrooms in a 15th century hotel with stunning medieval features.’

The restoration was hardly noticed by the regulars and today the hotel retains the charm and ambiance of bygone days.

“Today’s guests need 21st century comforts, a balance that is challenging in an historic building,” said marketing manager, Becca Way, “and we are all pleased with the recognition by The Good Pub Guide”.

The 14 national awards are for pubs that demonstrate excellence above and beyond other entries in the Good Pub Guide itself.

Richard Robbins, a local businessman and regular said that the award was, “well deserved.”

Once a favourite haunt for the Abbots of nearby Cleeve Abbey, the hotel now houses a restaurant, bars with open fire places and suites for parties and private functions, as well as a garden with a great view of Dunster Castle hidden out the back.
