WEST Somerset College is seeking new governors as part of its conversion into academy for the new year.

The school, which was put into special measures last year, will become an Academy sponsored by Bridgwater College Trust in January 2016.

The news comes after it was announced last month that up to 30 support staff jobs are at risk.

The job description says: "A new Local Governing Body will be formed to run the College on a day-to-day basis under the guidance and direction of the Bridgwater College Trust.

"The Trust is seeking suitable local representation to join this body to help steer the future direction of WSC.

"If you think you have the appropriate skills, experience, passion and time to commit to becoming a Governor and would like to know more, email: "GovernorRecruitment@educ.somerset.gov.uk"
