DO you have any good quality clothing and bric-a-brac you could give to charity?

St. Margaret’s Hospice is asking the Minehead Community to donate items at a donation drop-in event in the town’s United Reformed Church on Tuesday, January 26 from 6pm.

The Minehead shop is currently having a refit and St. Margaret’s is hoping to re-open the store full of good quality clothing and bric-a-brac.

Robert Parsons, newly appointed retail director, is hoping the event will be a great success: “With the continued trend in upcycling and increased quality of second hand clothing available, the demand for good quality donations is growing. Every donation is gratefully received and it’s a great way to directly support your local hospice.”

St Margaret's Hospice believes many people intend to donate their items to charity shops but busy working and family lives means it’s not always possible to donate during working hours.

“We are hoping that people will fill their cars the night before and drop their items off on the way home from work, or that mums will be able to pop out after the teatime rush” says Christine Slade, manager of the Minehead shop.

St. Margaret’s is not part of the NHS. Last year its shops contributed over £1.2m to the charity, helping to make each day count for patients and their families facing a life-limiting illness. In West Somerset the hospice provides a community service with the support of the Taunton Inpatient Unit when needed. To continue to run this local service St. Margaret’s are looking for increasing support from the community.

The Minehead shop is expected to re-open on Friday, January 29 where the staff and volunteers would love to see you.
