PUPILS from D.r.e.a.m.s School of Dancing and Performing Arts gained top marks in their recent dance exams with the International Dance Teacher’s Association overseen by an examiner from London.

Frances Burns, head teacher from Knights Templar School presented the numerous awards to the children, watched by their proud parents and relatives.

The pre-juvenile ballet award was taken by Lucy Cornish, Sophie Payton, Kekoa Norman and Rosie Lovell receiving top marks of highly commended. They also gained their Rosette Award in theatre craft joined by Peggy Bishop, Rose Gee and Charmaine Allen-Stewart.

Primary Ballet was taken by Peggy Bishop, Kaelyn Cross, Rose Gee, Isabella Melhuish, Sizhu Chen and Charmaine Allen-Stewart who all received top marks of honours and distinction.

Bethany Morby and Caitlin Hill took their grade three ballet receiving top marks.

Graduates Amy Miller and Yasmin Turner were successful in their modern jazz and classical ballet awards where they received honours and distinction.

Ruby Sowden, Sizhu Chen, Isabella Melhuish, Sophie Sefton, Abigail Pentland and Kaelyn Cross all gained Highly Commended for their musical theatre exam which included singing, dance and drama.

Bronze medals for musical theatre were awarded to Abigail Pentland, Ruby Sowden and Sophie Sefton. They recited a poem of their choice and performed a song and dance solo from a musical.

From the adult tap dance class Carole Fawcett and Peta-Ann Livermore gained highly commended for their bronze medal exam.

Dance principal Dianne Turner said the results were outstanding and she was very proud of her pupils who all worked so hard, they really deserved the great marks they received.
