EXMOOR'S Pinnacle Award is now open for applications to young people who live in the Greater Exmoor area.

Those aged up to 25 who live, work, or study the area can apply for an award of £3.000. Individuals or groups who have an idea for a business venture in relation to agriculture, forestry, conservation, horticulture, craft, tourism, or any outdoor land-based activity should head to the Exmoor Society's website to fill out an application form.

The award was set up by the Exmoor Society to encourage young people to stay in the area when they enter the world of work, it believes that beautiful landscapes and livelihoods can work together.

Previous winners in 2012, Sally Taylor and Emma Cox, used their prize money to establish a country clothing business. Last year's winner Matthew Sharpe has set up a business in woodland management with specific intention of using small-scale equipment, so he can operate within environmentally sensitive areas without disturbing habitats.

The society hopes to attract even more entries for the award this year.
