FIFTY plastic yellow ducks are being polished and prepped ready to take part in the annual Porlock Duck Race.
Taking place this Sunday, the annual event will give visitors the chance to compete in 10 different races, with prizes and rosettes for first, second and third place, followed by a grand finale race for all the winners to compete in.
The free entry event kicks off at 2pm at Sparkhayes Campsite in Porlock and it costs just £2 per duck for adults and £1 per duck for children.
As well as the racing there will be plenty of entertainment for all ages with a bouncy castle, donkey rides, raffle, barbecue, licensed bar, tea and cakes, and ice cream as well as a Best Hat at the Races competition for adults and children.
Porlock Carnival Committee chairman Nigel Southwood encouraged everyone to join in the fun: “Come and have a quacking good time over the bank holiday weekend and support local charities at the same time.”
This year also sees the launch of the new Porlock Duck Race logo created by Porlock artist Charlotte Thorman.
The Porlock Duck Race raises funds for Porlock Carnival which takes place this year on Saturday September 3.
