WATCHET's Meals on Wheels service has maintained its five star hygiene status for the fifth year in a row.
The service is based in Ingrams Meadow and is provided by Magna Housing. Following a surprise visit from Environmental Health, the service passed with flying colours and earned another five star rating.
The kitchen at the Magna scheme provides up to 60 meals a day, 365 days a year, to vulnerable and elderly people within a 10 mile radius of Watchet and at their two extra care schemes.
The ‘meals on wheels’ service is delivered by volunteers and is open to non Magna residents.
Barbara Mullan, community services manager at Magna, said: “Meals on wheels provides a very valuable service to the rural community where we are based, offering daily meals for elderly and vulnerable people.
“We’re very proud to be offering the service at a five star food hygiene rating. This is a fantastic achievement for everyone involved, especially the kitchen staff who do such a fantastic job.”
