IT will be music to your ears to hear that this year's Bands in the Park event will once again take place in Minehead's Blenheim Gardens.

The Minehead Events Group, which is part of the Coastal Community Team, has been been busy organising a summer of music for the town.

Last year was the inaugural event, after the previous concert funded and organised by Superact folded.

West Somerset Councillor Karen Mills who masterminded the programme with Caroline Ferris from Wilkie, May and Tuckwood, said: "The group saw this as an opportunity to bring back a very much loved event.

“It’s great that we have live music in Blenheim Gardens this summer for our visitors and residents, last year saw great support from the local acts who performed with no payment.

"Having had such great feedback from the bands and importantly the attendees, Caroline and myself thought it would be well worthwhile organising the event again this year, we are grateful for the financial support from Minehead Town Council who are supporting the brass bands that are attending this year, and we would also like to thank Sue Dean in the Park Cafe who also helps the bands on the day of the event."

The event starts early this year on Saturday, June 25 with Clevedon Brass Bands, who will be playing between 2-4pm in the Bandstand in the Gardens

Cllr Mills added: "I wholeheartedly hope that everyone will come and support both this event and the bands who play, especially those local bands who play for no payment, but are allowed to shake a bucket on the day.

"This really is a community event for the community. The programme runs until late August and we have some great bands and events lined up…watch this space!”
