THOUSANDS of people flocked to enjoy all the fantastic activities going along Minehead seafront for this year's Minehead HarbourFest.

The sun was shining for the annual event, which included the traditional raft race from Warren Point across to the Harbour and a spectacular fireworks display to close out the evening.

The weekend also included live music, kayak races and free watersports taster sessions, bouncy castle at the harbour, magic shows and much, much more.

HarbourFest organiser and RNLI crew member Jim Whittaker said the total amount raised was still being totted up, but they hoped to beat the £10,000 raised last year for the Minehead RNLI.

"It was a fantastic weekend and we have had really positive feedback. Families in particular have said there was warm, inclusive, safe and accessible atmosphere and does not put you out of pocket too much as there is so much going on that is free," Mr Whittaker said.

"It is only made possible because we get so much support from the local community and businesses in particular.

"There are too many to mention and I am grateful to them all but a few examples that spring to mind include Autohaus who raised £2,700 in sponsorship with their raft race attempt, The Valiant Soldier at Roadwater once again raised around £1,500 and Active Signs kindly donated free signs for the event," he said.

"I would like to thank all those who contributed, it is the generosity, dedication and support of our amazing local businesses that makes this event possible."
