PEOPLE from Somerset attended an evening with Exmoor's resident TV wildlife expert, photographer and author Johnny Kingdom and helped raise £1,710 for charity.

Saturday's event, which was sponsored by Langford Lakes Christmas Tree Farm, took place at Langford Budville village hall, and all the proceeds were donated to the village hall funds, a registered charity.

Reg Hendy, owner at Langford Lakes, said: “We were delighted to be able to sponsor this fantastic event.

"Johnny told tales about his experiences on Exmoor, which were illustrated by his wonderful wildlife photographs.

"We were so pleased the event managed to raise an amazing amount of money for the village hall funds. The money will go towards the running costs of the venue.

“Johnny has always lived on Exmoor, apart from two years’ National Service in the Army Regimental Police in Hong Kong, and for the past 33 years he has been engaged in filming the national park’s wildlife.

"He has been making television series and documentaries about Exmoor and Somerset wildlife since 1999. He told some interesting stories during the evening and everyone had a great time.”
