A FORMER West Somerset College pupil has competed in Ironman Copenhagen.

Louise Harris, who grew up at Luckwell Bridge but now lives in North Devon completed a 3.8k sea swim, 112 mile bike ride and a marathon through the Danish capital.

Following a shaky start in the swimming, Louise upped her game for the bike ride and heading into the marathon she had moved up from 13th to 6th position in the women's 35-39 age group.

An impressive marathon moved up to third, which meant she achieved her goal and qualified for the World Ironman Championships in Kona, Hawaii.

Louise said she was completely overwhelmed at her overall race time, and thanked her coach Graham Collins from Minehead, and also Tanks Direct cycling for their great support this season.

Louise, who works for the charity Sported, aiming to unleash the power of sport to help the lives of disadvantaged young people, always maintains she is eternally grateful for having these opportunities to compete and train, something that not everyone is lucky enough to have.
