THANKS to a generous grant from the Rotary Club and Williton Parish Council, the Archie Project can continue to run in the Williton area for the next three years.

The intergenerational project, which is delivered by Wellington-based charity Reminiscence Learning, supports the link between residents at Croft House and pupils at St Peter’s Church of England First School, while raising awareness of dementia within the community.

A coffee morning was recently held at Croft House to re-launch the Archie Project in the Williton area.

The morning was very lively, with the school children arriving and performing songs for the residents.

Fiona Mahoney, founder of Reminiscence Learning, continued the festivities by leading a sing-along to ‘Daisy, Daisy’ and ‘It’s a long way to Tipperary’, unfortunately the children weren’t familiar with the songs but are keen to learn them for their next visit.

The children then walked around the home helping to serve cakes and distributing Archie stickers to the residents at Croft House.

Roger Andrews, President of the Rotary Club of Minehead and the Quantocks, presented Fiona Mahoney with the cheque to fund the project and announced that they are also funding the project in Watchet.

To end the celebrations, Bert, a resident at Croft House, gave a speech on behalf of all of the residents to thank everyone for organising the morning, mentioning how delightful it was to welcome children into their home.
