THE former public toilets in Dunster's Church Street will be going up for auction in less in the coming weeks.

Lambert Smith Hampton national property consultants announced that the loos will go under the hammer on Tuesday, October 11, with a guide price range of £15,000 to £20,000.

The single storey disused toilets close to the High Street offer the purchaser the potential for alternative use, subject to planning permission.

The building is being sold on behalf of West Somerset Council.

LSH planning director Marcus Plaw said: “This site presents a unique opportunity for a sensitively planned development, which responds to the historic character of the local area.”

A working party has been established by the parish council to try and keep the toilets in the Dunster Steep car park open, which are due to close next April unless a means of keeping them open can be found.
