RNLI funds have been boosted by more than £1,000 thanks to guests at the Hoburne holiday park in Blue Anchor.

And the donation to Minehead lifeboat station puts the branch on course for a record fundraising year.

The cheque was handed over to Minehead RNLI chairman Bryan Stoner this week after a season of fundraising activities organised at the centre by admin officer Marion Fewless.

RNLI fundraisers in Minehead aim to raise at least a third of the station’s £90,000 running costs each year and, said Dr Stoner: “When we receive support on this kind of scale that task begins to look somewhat less daunting.

“Because of the cliffs and the mud flats we do find ourselves involved in quite a few operations in the Blue Anchor area each summer but it is extremely gratifying to know that the efforts of our volunteer crew are appreciated.”
