THE organisers of this year's Samphire Festival on Porlock Hill will be presented with an award by Glastonbury Festival founder Michael Eavis.

The inaugural festival attracted 1,000 people up to Exmoor in July this year and was a big hit - despite a last minute scare regarding licensing for the event.

The festival was given the green light and proceeded to be a success, and now organisers Flora Blathwayt and Josh Beauchamp have been nominated for two awards by the National Outdoor Events Association.

The pair were also invited to be keynote speakers at the event which takes place in Bath's Pump Rooms today (Thursday, November 24).

Miss Blathwayt said she was delighted with the nomination and was thrilled to be meeting one of her heroes.

“We’re both over the moon to be shortlisted for two awards and delighted to have been asked to talk at the NOEA event but the thing I’m most looking forward to is meeting Michael Eavis," Miss Blathwayt said.

"He’s an absolute hero and I just pray I don’t get stage fright," she said.

Mr Eavis’s award is to celebrate his 40 years of inspiration to outdoor events. With Glastonbury Festival’s long term future currently unknown there may well be need for another major festival in Somerset, perhaps Michael will give Flora and Josh some tips on running one of the worlds best music festivals.
