THREE fire engines were called to reports of a fire in a thatched home last night.

Crews from Williton and Minehead were initally mobilised to fight the fire, although only one fire engine from Williton was required.

They were called to reports of a chimney fire in a thatched property in Fair Cross to Sticklepath, Nettlecombe shortly after 8pm (Friday, January 6).

On arrival crews confirmed no sign of fire but got to work with hearth kit checking for hotspots.

The temperature of the chimney was monitored for a short while and then crews started making up equipment before leaving the scene.
