MORE than 50 people enjoyed a rather unusual dining experience at a skate park.

It was the launch of West Somerset's Secret Location Dining, and guests were asked to meet at the train station in preparation to whisked off to a mystery location for the evening.

It was soon revealed the Minehead Eye would be the venue for the evening of American Diner-themed food with Claire Lynch and her team from Claire's Kitchen providing an amazing array of dishes.

Tables were set out alongside the skate park and entertainment during the evening included spectacular aerial acrobatics from a Minehead Eye instructor and skills from the centre's top skaters and BMX riders.

The mouth-watering menu, which included barbecued buffalo chicken wings, sizzling barbecue tiger prawns and Chicago style pork ribs all cooked on a barbecue brought into the venue as well as devil's chocolate food cake and New York cheesecake for dessert.

Elke Winzer, who has helped organise Secret Location Dining, said: "Not a single guest had expected the Minehead Eye to be the venue – which was a sigh of relief!"

Mrs Winzer said the venues chosen are not usually available for dining or even accessible to the public.

"It could be a private manor house, an orchard, a field on top of a cliff, or anything in between and beyond. In any case, it’s going to be a special, once-in-a-lifetime experience," she said.

Tickets for the next Secret Location Dining event are available now. It takes place on Friday, June 30 and has been given the title 'Summer Dreaming', again meeting initially at the Minehead Railway Station at 7pm.

Tickets cost £69 per person which includes transport to and from the venue and the menu includes tandoori chicken and Mediterranean lamb cooked on the barbecue, Thai beef salad with a sweet chilli dressing and much more.
