MINEHEAD'S Beat Team will be holding another 'Coffee with Cops' event.

They will be in Sugar, 11B on The Avenue in the town from 10am until noon today (May 16).

This is the second event they have held, their first at the beginning of the month which proved really successful.

These events aim to make the team more accessible to their communities and are held at different cafes and locations around the town so residents can sit down over a coffee and have a chat with their local officers in a friendly and relaxed environment.

PC Joe Sanderson, who will be running the drop-in, said: “We know some people want to chat to us about issues and concerns, or get some advice but coming to the police station can be daunting, and sitting in a community hall in the evening at a public meeting isn't everyone's cup of tea.

"We wanted to get out and about and be more accessible within the town and at different times of the day.

"Our first event at Chambers was really successful. We had people drop-in for advice, to raise concerns, and in some cases just have a quick chat with their local plod over a brew and talk through some community issues."

PC Sanderson added: "It’s an opportunity for local people to get to know our faces and see that they do have a local neighbourhood team. It’s also an opportunity for some of our smaller residents to perhaps come with parents and meet us so they can see we aren’t scary and that we are there if they ever need us.”

PC Sanderson and his colleague PCSO Mark Middleton-Smith  said they will be delighted to speak to you, so drop in, grab a cuppa and have a chat with them.

They can listen to any crime, ASB or community issues you might have, give advice or just have a natter.
