FIREFIGHTERS have been out tackling a fire in a home in Roadwater caused by an oven fire.

Firefighters from Williton were called out to Roadwater Road at 9.17am this morning (Wednesday, May 17).

The property was heavily smoke-logged on arrival and crews got to work with hose reel jets and breathing apparatus to extinguish the fire.

A spokesman for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue said: "A thermal image camera was used to check for hotspots.

"A positive pressure ventilation fan was also used to ventilate the property.  Flame and smoke damage was caused to the Rayburn oven and the cause of the fire was accidental."
