THE owners of a West Somerset pub have been left feeling frustrated after a bouncy castle was stolen over the Bank Holiday weekend.

Thieves snatched the castle from the Windmill Inn at West Quantoxhead on the road between Bridgwater and Williton between 11.30pm on Sunday night and 9am on Monday morning.

Aaron Brookbanks, director of the Windmill Inn, said it was very frustrating, especially as the summer has just arrived.

"We got a little bit on our CCTV camera but nothing the police can really act on," he said.

Somerset County Gazette:

"We have had a castle there about five or six years and it is a big hit with the kids, especially in the summer.

"We have only had this multi-coloured castle in the last year, and they are expensive."

The police said that because of the weight of the castle it was likely two or more people may have been involved in stealing it.

"The fence surrounding the play area where the bouncy castle was housed was damaged during the incident," a spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police said.

"The deflated castle measures 12ft by 12ft when inflated and is multi-coloured.

"We would ask members of the public to be vigilant and contact us if they are offered an inflatable castle.

"We would also like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time, who may have seen people acting suspiciously.

"Anyone with information is asked to call us on 101, quoting 5217120022."
