Wessex Water closed the road yesterday lunchtime (June 5), while it carried out the repairs.

But this morning the company confirmed the road had now reopened.

A spokesman for Wessex Water said: "The A39 at Bilbrook is now open, although some staff remain on site this morning to remove signs etc.

"We worked through the night to carry out water main repairs, which were completed between 5am and 6am this morning.

“We apologise again for any disruption caused by these essential repairs and thank motorists and residents for their patience and cooperation.”

A 'like for like' diversion was in place and there was some disruption to customers' water supplies while the repairs went on.
