A SMALL wine bar and restaurant on Exmoor has been chosen as the winner of a prestigious national award for no less than the eighth time in a row.

Woods Bar and Restaurant in Dulverton has once again been named as Wine Pub of the Year 2017 by the Good Pub Guide - the tenth time it has landed the accolade in the past 13 years.

Landlord Paddy Groves, says the restaurant in Banks Square is now developing some what of a cult following and sees people coming from far and wide to see what the fuss is about.

"We put in a lot of effort into bringing in interesting and quality wines and also having a good selection at affordable prices," Mr Groves said.

"I think the other key is our enthusiasm. I look forward to coming into work every day and I am privileged to have a wonderful set of staff to help."

"We go round the tables, speak to everybody as individuals, we remember what they like for when they come again. We want them to feel pleased they have come," he said.

Woods Bar and Restaurant stocks more than 400 wines from all over the world which range in value from £14 a bottle to others worth hundreds of pounds, and the food served in the restaurant is produced on Mr Groves' 100-acre farm.

There is a bar where visitors and locals meet and enjoy the wines and real ales on offer while the restaurant offers British cooking with a French influence.
