On Sunday afternoon, HM Coastguard Watchet, first responders, police, ambulance and air ambulance personnel were called to Kilve beach following an unfortunate incident where a female slipped on the rocky terrain and suffered a broken leg.

Because of the seriousness of the open fracture, the patient was taken from the beach to a nearby field where she was transferred to the Great Western Air Ambulance and taken directly to Southmead Hospital.

Simon Bale, HM Coastguard officer, said: "This was an unfortunate accident Her family members immediately dialled 999 for the emergency services of which demonstrated great multi-agency working to ensure the casualty was rescued and treated promptly."

On Saturday, May 5 Minehead and Porlock firefighters battled for hours to rescue to horses stuck in a bog.

Crews headed to the incident near Larkbarrow Corner, Rams Combe, near Minehead, at around 11.45am.

One of the horses was on its side, while the other was stuck by its back legs.

A vet was summoned to sedate the horses before any rescue attempts were made.

The animals were eventually rescued in the afternoon from the bog using lines, mud mats and assistance from a farmer with a tractor.

Both horses were left in the care of the owner and a vet, on their feet and on hard ground.

On Saturday warnings were issued to people stuck in the mud at Blue Anchor.

In one case a man got stuck with the mud above his wellington boots - however he managed prize himself out of the boots and escape to safety on all fours.

Later three children were called back to shore by police along the same stretch to prevent an incident developing with the fast incoming tide.

In the early hours of Monday, firefighters were called out to a caravan fire between Exford and Wheddon Cross.

The crews put out the fire and called for an ambulance for the farmer, who had burns to his head and arms.
