CROWDS flocked to Exmoor to enjoy a special Easter Holidays family fun day.

More than 200 visitors to the Haddon Hill Big Adventure took part in activities such as spotting wild Exmoor ponies and a guided walk down the Wimbleball damn.

They also learnt the countryside code and developed their tracking skills.

The day was the first of a series of family fun days organised by Exmoor National Park Authority for school holidays over the coming months.

National Park Ranger Adam Vasey said: “It was great to see so many people enjoying themselves.

“The success of the day relied heavily on the support of our partners from the Southwest Lakes Trust, the Discover Wistlandpound team, Countryside mobility and the Exmoor Moorland Landscape Partnership Scheme.

“Hopefully our next three events will go as smoothly and we'll keep on being lucky with the weather.”

The Ashcombe Big Adventure, during half term on May 31, will include nature games, a chance to help restore a section of old stone wall, a tour round the Simonsbath sawmill and woodland treasure trails.
